First, EIFS is an acronym for Exterior Insulation Facing Systems, often referred to as ‘synthetic stucco’.
EIFS Consulting began operation in 1990 as Synthetic Stucco Consulting and Repair, of Winston-Salem, NC, Michael J. Minigh, owner. His brother, Phillip V. Minigh began working with him in 1991.
Between 1990 and 2004, we were contracted with Dryvit Systems®, R-Wall®, STO®, Finestone®, Synergy®, and other major EIFS manufacturers to evaluate and repair warranty problems with the finishes. The primary focus was the presence of rust spots and streaks, caused by ‘iron pyrite’ in the finish aggregate (sand). During this period, we repaired and in many cases, coated (or painted) the exteriors. In the 14 years, we completed nearly 1500 projects, totaling well over 20 million square feet of exterior wall surface, in over 20 states. In that time we also did numerous damage repairs, inspections, caulking and addressed other moisture intrusion issues.
In 2004, Michael was appointed as the Quality Control Officer for the national Dryvit Class Action Suit and Phillip assumed control and ownership of the company. We received inspection and repair training and certifications from Moisture Warranty Corporation, the administrator of the Class Action Suit, and participated in inspections and repairs of EIFS homes in that suit. We were one of only about 150 companies in the U. S. That qualified to do this work.
From 2004 to present, we have inspected, cleaned, repaired, caulked and coated the EIFS exteriors of 100's of homes and businesses in 6 states, primarily in the Southeast. We are one of only 3 companies with the certifications and experience to do so in the Carolinas!
